As you know, the situation related to COVID-19 is rapidly evolving and has created significant stress for all of us. Our daily routine and way of life has significantly, though temporarily, been altered. We write to assure you of our commitment to see our way through this period together with strength and resolve.
To begin, it is important to acknowledge that the Lester B. Pearson School Board administrative team has been meeting daily to monitor coronavirus developments and to develop strategies that address the situation as it evolves. We have followed closely the guidance and recommendations of government agencies and public health authorities, putting the health and safety of our community first in all of our actions. Rest assured that we will continue to provide punctual updates, as needed, through our ERMS system.
We realize that this is a period of anxiety and instability, especially for those members of our community whose family and friends are most affected by this situation. Please know that for everyone of us, it is truly a collective endeavour to keep our students, staff, and the broader community healthy and safe. We would like to thank you all for your understanding and cooperation as we work our way through these difficult circumstances.
We especially wish to acknowledge the sacrifices of our administrators, teachers, professionals, and support staff who have attended to and soothed the significant anxieties of parents and students in our schools over the past few weeks, while bravely coping with their own concerns. This week, many of you continue to work above and beyond the call of duty to support the essential services required to contain and limit virus spread. You are truly our unsung heroes, whose efforts will surely contribute to managing this public health crisis and minimize the loss of life. We are grateful to and proud of you all.
This is a very trying period. This situation will require the effort of every individual to play their part in following health guidelines to defeat this virus. It is also a period that promises to bring out the best in us as mutually-dependant citizens of a great society. Given the compassion, commitment, and capacity that characterize the Lester B. Pearson community, we trust fully in our collective ability to weather this storm together.
