LBPSB APPOINTED RETURNING OFFICER: Ms. ROSEMARY MURPHY
On November 5, 2020, English School Boards become School Service Centres. On that date, the official name of the Lester B. Pearson School Board will be the Lester B. Pearson School Service Centre (LBPSSC).
School Service Centres will be administered by a Board of Directors.
The Education Act, at section 143.1 EA, lists three types of seats that make up each Board of Directors:
- Parents representatives (total of 12 for LBPSSC for the 2020-2023 term)
- Community representatives (total of 8 for LBPSSC for the 2020-2023 term)
- Staff members (total of 4 for English Service Centres for every 3-year term)
To elect the parent representatives and the community representatives on the Board of Directors, school elections will be held on November 1, 2020.
As stipulated in the Education Act, the staff will designate their representatives on the Board of Directors as per the procedure determined by the Director General at the latest by November 1, 2020. This procedure will be communicated to the staff of LBPSB at the beginning of the 2020-2021 school year.
INFORMATION FOR PARENTS AND COMMUNITY REPRESENTATIVES INTERESTED IN RUNNING AS CANDIDATES IN THE SCHOOL ELECTIONS OF NOVEMBER 1, 2020
If you are a parent or community member interested in running as a candidate in the school elections of November 1, 2020, please refer to the document from Élections Québec entitled Running as a candidate in school elections in an English-language School Service Centre. Please remember that if you qualify as candidate as per the Education Act and the Act respecting school elections to elect certain members of the boards of directors of English-language school service centres, you must file a nomination paper at the office of the Returning Officer between September 22 and September 27, 2020, before 5pm.
Please note that for the 2020-2021 school year, Governing Boards must exceptionally be formed by September 18, 2020.

If you are currently not listed as an elector on the electoral list of the Lester B. Pearson, are entitled to be as per sections 12 to 19 of the Act respecting school elections to elect certain members of the boards of directors of English-language school service centres, and wish to be allowed to vote in the school elections of November 1, 2020, please complete the form entitled Notice to the anglophone school board: Option or revocation of option regarding the exercise of voting rights (voter transfer form) and send a signed paper copy (original) to :

Please note that on October 3, 2020, a notice will be sent to each address for which the name of an elector is entered on the list of electors or to each elector whose name is entered on that list. This notice will provide information concerning the dates and procedure for the revision of the electoral list.
If you do not receive this notice, you may not be listed as an elector on the LBPSB electoral list.
