In response to recent developments, the Minister of Education, Jean-François Roberge, has provided further information concerning the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year.
Extension of school closures for elementary schools
In light of the current public health emergency and following the recommendation of Public Health officials, the Government has confirmed that the closure of all elementary schools located in the territory of the Montréal metropolitan community will be extended until the end of the school year to ensure the health and safety of students and school staff.
Emergency daycare services will remain available until June 30th.
Continuation of distance/online learning
As the school year is not yet over, the Minister has reinforced the message to continue distance/online learning for all preschool, elementary and secondary students in our school board. The goal is for students to maintain acquired learning and to continue to progress in their essential learning. School personnel will continue to follow up with students to provide learning resources and support. More details about the weekly learning plan for your child will be provided to you by your school.
Vocational Training and Adult Education
For vocational training, educational and teaching services from a distance have resumed. As of May 25th, some in presence learning and evaluation may take place in classrooms, in groups no larger than 15 students. Students will be contacted by their centre with additional information.
For adult education, educational and teaching services from a distance have resumed. As of May 25th, some in presence learning and evaluation may take place in classrooms, in groups no larger than 15 students. Students will be contacted by their centre with additional information.
All centres must comply with the rules established by Public Health with regard to group size (maximum of 15 individuals), proper hygiene in facilities (cleaning, washing of hands) and physical distancing (2m).
Loan of technological equipment
Since the start of the shutdown, we have distributed a considerable number of laptops, chromebooks and other devices to students. As distance/online learning will be maintained until the end of the school year, we will continue to loan devices to students. Please contact your school/centre to inform them of your needs.
We thank you for your continued understanding and collaboration during this health emergency.
